Sojourn to the Southeast travel blog

We had a short drive today to get to Oklahoma City, about 175 miles. The biggest challenge was the strong head wind and the horrifically rough condition of I-40 through Oklahoma. We had forgotten how bad this highway is but the memory jolted back pretty fast as we bumped and rolled along. Some of the entrances to the bridges were rough enough to pop open the cabinet doors. We need to put the stimulus money to work repairing I-40!!!

Since we’ll be parked for a couple of months, Joe wanted to top off fuel and propane. We needed just 7 gallons of propane; we hadn’t used very much at all over the winter; but, we just about rolled in on fumes for diesel. Well, not quite…but, we always let ourselves get pretty low because the prices at Flying J in Oklahoma City are very competitive…$1.709 today. It’s been a while since we’ve seen diesel prices this low. While at Flying J, we decided to just have lunch there as well.

So, with full propane and diesel and full stomachs, we arrived at Rockwell RV Park for our stay for the next 2 ½ months. Luckily, we got the site Joe likes and we were set up pretty fast. It truly is good to be ‘home’ for a while.

We just had the opportunity to visit briefly with Rich & Karen as they were off to see their son, who was just released from the hospital. We’ll have time to visit a little more with them later.

Neither one of us felt like cooking or grocery shopping, so we just went to Pizza Hut for supper.

Tomorrow, we’ll start to work on our list of ‘to do’s’, which is always very lengthy when we get ‘home’.

I won’t post again for a while as we’ll just be dealing with mundane life chores.
