1/1 – 1/23
One of the highlights of this month was the shed party celebrating Joan and Chuck’s shed painting. They called it the “Premier Art Show at Rover’s Roost” and all the folks in the park were invited. Wine and cheese was provided after the actual shed “unveiling” (the sheet covering the shed was removed!). Entertainment was provided by a bagpiper, violinist, “Elvis” and Ken playing the guitar. It was fun and a lot of our neighbors attended.
One Sunday afternoon Ken gave an hour folk music concert for the park. The folks seemed to enjoy singing along with some of the old favorites.
We took a trip into Tempe to see the Lion King presented by the Broadway National Touring company in the Gammage theater at Arizona State University. What a fantastic show: excellent music (tunes by Elton John), good dancing and the most amazing animal costumes we have ever seen.
We drove to Tucson to visit our good friends David and Diane. They showed us around town and took us to a Mexican restaurant for lunch. We started making plans for a trip together to Canada this coming summer which may include the Calvary Stampede and Lake Louise.
Tom and Barbara (from New Jersey) stopped by our park for a couple of days for a visit. We have been friends for over 40 years. Tom played drums in the band Ken was in. We had not seen Tom and Barbara for a number of years, it was great to be with them again.
