When the gas in my tank
Feels like money in the bank
Gonna blow it all this time
Take me one last ride
For the lights of this city
They only look good when I'm speeding
Gonna leave em all behind me
Cause this time
I'm gone

So far it's been a great session, some great waves and great experiences - but it's time to paddle out and catch another wave... when I left NZ 18 weeks ago (!?!?) this trip seemed so difficult to conceptualize, there were just too many aspects to fit into one cohesive thought. It was just too hard to lump into one experience. Rather then to try that impossible task I compartmentalised and sub divided. Bike trip, Canada work trip, Ontario trip, Europe trip, Africa trip, Dubai trip & trip home.
When it was on paper months ago it was hard to believe that this was all going to occur under one ride, but now more then almost done, the ride just keeps on going...
Ontario has been just magic - we have been in the biggest of the big (Toronto) and the smallest of the small (Sioux Lookout) and both could not be more sublime or different from one another. Where Toronto is a hulking beast of a city, full of urban culture, post millennial sprawl and dollops of ethnic flavour - Sioux Lookout is the land that developer forgot. Pristine lakes, untouched forests and precious little to do beyond visiting, reading, fishing and golfing - holiday perfection.
It has been a tremendous journey so far filled with family and familiarity. Seeing old friends, meeting new ones and introducing new family members to my girl - it has been a blur of social interaction spiced with the taste of good wine, fresh fish and the endearing sights of the sun dipping below a watery horizon.
But this adventure into the world of new babies (no not ours) new houses (no not ours) and old friends has come to an end. From here on out the unknown beacons. Tomorrow we leave the country of my birth and board a plane bound for the old world - Amsterdam is calling and we are going to answer.
So get ready - it's going to be a great adventure - a sweet ride on a long clean swell. Keep your eyes pealed and your ears open and paddle along!
Chat to you soon from the other side of the Atlantic.
Be well,
