It was a looooong day! Couldn't have gone better though from a flying prospective. All 4 airplanes departed very close to on-time, and all arrived a few minutes early. The leg from Washington, DC to Johannesburg was just one of those things that have to be endured in adventures. You finally just get worn down to the point sleep comes - but then the equally hard issue of waking up arrives.
We had great weather for the trip. Just a few bumpy spots over the Atlantic, and a few thunderstorms to dodge on the leg to Cape Town.
The first lifestyle comes quickly. We get to remember that ice is not as available in other places as we are accustomed to. Our hotel has been recently renovated; the elevator indicates which floors have ice machines - of course none worked.
A good trip. We arrived safely, on time, and so did all our luggage.
