The new shed

The new shed

4/26 – 4/30

Only 119 miles brought us up I-10 and west on I-8 back to our “new pad” in Casa Grande. This was the first time we parked on our new concrete, very nice. We returned just in time for Ken to get his final laser experience – finished with that doctor for awhile.

Our big project before the end of the month was to unload the shed and then take the shed down and clean up the area to prepare for our new shed which will be delivered at the start of next month. David and Diane showed up to give us a hand with the shed demolishing. We also had help from neighbors Bob Beres and Dick George.

We went to Phoenix with David and Diane to visit the Desert Botanical Garden. What a beautiful place. Currently they have an exhibition of Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures which have been placed amongst the cactus. What a show.

We went to dinner and the movies with about twenty of our neighbors. The dinner was okay but the movie, The Soloist, was excellent.

In April we put 1239 miles on our house and 916 miles on the Jeep.

5/1 – 5/3

May 1st the shed and two installers arrived on our lot at 8:00 AM. The four wood walls were already constructed and painted. First, the workers put down the metal floor joists and nailed down the plywood floors. Next they installed the four walls. While one worker was installing the rafters, the other was placing the window and door in their respective openings. The plywood roof, roofing paper and shingles were next. By 1:00 PM the shed was completed and it was time to start moving in our stuff.

The next two days were spent getting ready to travel and saying goodbye to what was left of our neighbors and friends (most had already departed).
