Temperature is in the 30's and the wind is in the 20's.

As we came across Kansas we were slowly gaining altitude. On the east side we were under 1000' and now entering Colorado we are at 4000' and still gaining.

We are spending the night just west of Loveland, CO at the base of the Rockies. After getting set up we head to the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Estes Park is just at the edge of the park and the elevation here is over 7500'. We take a short look drive and the main road is closed over the mountain. The area is beautiful. We see three coyotes and stop to watch. They don't seem to mind the car and let me take pictures.

The same is true of the Mule Deer we see. They have collars on for tracking.

Most of the people are driving too fast to even notice the wildlife but we pull over and watch as long as they will let us before they amble on looking for food.

As we are leaving and going back through Estes Park there are two elk grazing on the grass at a local motel. They don't seem to mind the cars whizzing by either.
