This week has been so much fun. The ones that have been gone from here all summer are starting to pour in and this week we had a couple of our very favorite couples return. On Monday our neighbors from the next block, Shirley and Hector, returned after a summer of travel out west and into the Black Hills of South Dakota and several of our other of our favorite places. It is great to have them here. They are just one big bundle of fun. We shared a couple of happy hours this week and caught up on our summer travels.

On Thursday, our good friends Harry and Shirley returned from their summer home in Ohio. You remember Harry and Shirley from out return trip from Newfoundland. They are the friends that took us to Put-In Bay Island on Lake Erie in their beautiful boat. Oh it is so good to have them back.

Everyone has been thrilled with the way the Park is shaping up, even though we are going through some major upgrades in the electric supply right now. Some of us have been moved to different lots while they put in new 100 amp wires to the sites that still only had 50amp. Didn't make a difference to us cuz all we need is 50 amp but for those that live in Park Models, we need the 100 amp that the developer provides. They have to turn off the power so some of the sites until this is all completed before the end of the year.

Last night the Park developer put on a Halloween party for everyone. We had a huge bonfire and they provided hot dogs to roast as well as everything for smores, hot chocolate, apple cider and a hay ride that was pulled by a John Deer tractor. What a lot of fun we all had. I think the entire park showed up. I can’t remember the last time we have been on a hay ride. Even those that had sorta’ shown disinterest wound up going and having a ball.

Yesterday’s paper had a notice that Sarah Palin was campaigning in Florida and would be appearing in Ocala. Well you know me, I don’t say much about politics on my blog except to encourage everyone to get out and vote but Sarah has really intrigued us. Maybe it is because of our recent summer in Alaska or maybe because she is so vivacious but Bill and I wanted to go and see her. Our friends Harry and Shirley wanted to go also so we went to the Republican Headquarters that are very close to us and got our tickets right away.

Today started bright and early when I went to the Mall with Shirley (Hectors Shirley) which I will call Shirl from now on. There were some early bird specials that we took advantage of to get some early Christmas shopping done. We also had a good time at Jo-Ann’s where I got some supplies for our craft days that will be starting next week. We returned just in time for me to run inside and change into shorts and head across town to see Sarah. This time we went with Shirley # 2 and her hubbie Harry. From now on she is known as Shirley.

We arrived at the baseball field about two hours before Sarah was due to arrive and it was already crowded. Once we parked and went through security we were able to find something to eat. It was really done up nice. Even nicer when you realize that this was only planned a couple of days ago.

Once we stuffed ourselves we went through the final security gate and walked around the field trying to find a good place to watch the activities. Well you know me. I just have to get a bit closer and closer to the action and while I was snooping around I found one of the head honcho’s that just happened to have some wrist bands that allowed the people who had them to get up into the bleachers close by the platform. I must have looked like and honest lady and soon I had four of those coveted bands.

After finding places in the stands we were able to watch the ceremonies in comfort instead of standing in the infield of the ball park although the sun was hot as heck and we all wound up sun burned. We had about an hour or so of the local politicians speaking after the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem that started the rally. We were not familiar with these people except for the signs that are around town because we are still residents of South Dakota and that is where we do our absentee ballots, but that didn’t matter because we have much of the same beliefs that they spoke about.

Just before Sarah arrived, we had a helicopter fly over checking the area and then we saw the motorcycle motorcade, a lead car and several big busses. The excitement was contagious and every time I tried to get a picture, someone got in front of me either with their body or the signs that they were waving. Oh well, not to worry. We had fantastic seats and I managed to get tons of pictures. I promise to only show you a few. I must say though, this tiny hockey mom with five children is in wonderful shape as well as her husband that appeared on stage with her. I don’t know how she does it, although the grueling campaign that everyone on both side of the fence have had this past two months must be taking it’s toll. I’ll bet even I would lose a few pounds.

We all were very glad that we were able to go to this rally today. It is something that none of us have ever seen before and probably will not have the chance to do again. We are also very happy that this is almost over. It has been a long long year in politics.

Now whatever you do…. Get out and VOTE. And like always, whomever wins, we will support. Anyone that would want this job deserves all of our support. We support our Troups and we support our Presidents; Past, Present and Future.

Later…………. Oh, Don't forget to change your clock back tonight.
