Gail & I did our morning walk as usual. Then, it was time to say good-bye for now. Howard & Gail are heading for Elkhart, IN to get some work done on their coach; we're not quite ready to head home just yet.
We said our good-byes but we'll be seeing them again in Oklahoma or Tucson before the year is over. They pulled out about 8:45 a.m. and we delayed until about 9:30 since we had a much shorter ride planned. Because the temps. have dropped quite a bit, we decided to stop and top off our propane tank. So, with full tanks of fuel and propane, we hit I-95 south bound for Bar Harbor.
It seemed a little strange traveling alone after 6 weeks with Gail & Howard. Traveling in Canada is a lot different than traveling in the U.S. Rarely are there marked rest areas so we would just dive off when we saw room for two coaches towing cars...sometimes, with hardly enough time to hit the radio to tell them we were stopping. Today, we had a planned rest area stop about 60 miles south. Then, it was about 90 miles to our campground for the next two nights. About 10 miles from the campground, they were doing serious road construction on Highway 1A. It was very rough, slow-going, and generally stressful, especially for Foxy. But, we prevailed and we are here and checked in for 2 nights. There is an Alfa rally going on here at the park too although we don't think we know anyone in attendance.
We made a run to Wal-Mart; it is a brand new store just opened TODAY. It was mobbed and what a positive impact it must be to the community. They had lots of specials and we managed to spend $300 on food, paper goods, Foxy food, etc. I got my hair cut too; they were running a $10 special for an adult cut
Having done all that, we were exhausted and stopped at Pat's Pizza for, yes, pizza. It was super good and a nice change from all the seafood we've had in the Maritimes.
Tomorrow, we plan to go to Acadia National Park, weather permitting, of course.
