Meandering to Quebec & The Maritime Provinces travel blog

We left Amherst about 9:00 a.m. and quickly bid good-bye to Nova Scotia. We drove on through New Brunswick and made a quick stop at an Irving station for a break at Tim Horton's for coffee and muffins. The roads in New Brunswick were much better than in Nova Scotia and we were also surprised by the amount of fall color emerging. It was a nice ride and we stopped for our lunch break at a weigh station, which seemed to be closed but there was a little activity going on with a couple of trucks.

From there, it was a quick run to the Maine border at Houlton. After a couple of routine questions, we were waved on our way. We waited for Howard & Gail and they cleared just as fast. We stopped for diesel at Irvings in Houlton and then checked infor the night at My Brother's Place RV Park. This is a really nice park and we took Foxy for a really long walk to check out the great rural setting

Howard & Gail did some errands and we met for dinner They treated us to a fabulous dinner at the Courtyard Cafe, in honor of Joe's upcoming birthday. The service was slow but it gave us an opportunity to just sit and visit and enjoy our last evening together for a while.

We'll both be heading south in the morning. We had a great trip through the Maritimes together. We left Oklahoma City on June 1 so we've been out 3 1/2 months......in Canada, we spent:

Quebec - 26 days

New Brunswick - 10 days

Prince Edward Island - 12 days

Nova Scotia - 34 days

Even with that much time here, there's still lots to explore on a future trip which we intend to make again...not next year but maybe 2011.
