Just a teaser of where we are now

I had hoped to finish my story from yesterday early this morning but it just didn’t happen so now I have two days to catch up on… That’s what I get for waiting so long between posts…

Because of the beautiful scenic route we took after leaving Tab and Deanna’s place in Western Ohio we saw some beautiful sites along US 35 to West Virginia… At lunch time we came to the town of Rio Grande and looked to see what they had for a placed to eat. We had a choice of McDonalds, Subway or Bob Evans… We opted for Bob Evans since we always have good food there… Little were we to know that it wasn’t only a Bob Evans Restaurant but it was the Bob Evans Farms… We spent the next three hours touring the starting place of this great restaurant… Whenever you go into one of these restaurants across the country there are pictures on the wall of the farm and to see it in person is really something… We had a wonderful lunch and then shopped the huge retail store before touring the homestead and barns… The homestead is now on the National Historic Places list and we could see why… We got the whole story of how they started and found out that until two years ago, Bob appeared at the fall festival and signed autographs… He passed away in 2007 or I’m sure he would be at the festival that is coming up in ten days… Wow! That must be one huge festival as they already had many tents set up and a huge parking lot all marked out… Sure wish we could be here for this… It looks like a ball…

We finally got underway again but only to go about 15 or 20 miles further to the last town on the Ohio side of the Ohio River… We found the fair grounds and camped there for the night… It had full hook-ups and I was able to do several loads of laundry even though we hadn’t unhitched and were very unbalanced.

It wasn’t long after leaving the fairgrounds that we crossed the Ohio River into West Virginia and soon came to the Capitol City of Charleston.. We spent several days in this area about four years ago and made a trip to the Capitol… It is one of our favorites and today we drove right along side of it on I-64. I managed to snap a picture… The rest of the ride through WV was beautiful…. Our stop for lunch was at the same place we stopped four years ago. Tamarack Village is an awesome place that sells art from all over West Virginia… Last time we bought an end table but this time we settled for lunch.. We saw the most beautiful stained glass that we would love to have to replace the one we broke on our RV window but thankfully it wasn’t the right size… Had it been, we would have been tempted to pay the $800.00 price tag on it. It was beautiful and just the right colors… I can not believe all the beautiful works of art that are in that building…. You can find anything from a beautiful hand painted card for $2.00 to a hand made table for $4000.00 and then if you want the chairs they are $800.00 each. Sure wish we could afford something like that but that would blow our budget for quite some time…. Oh well, we enjoyed looking and dreaming anyway.

Soon we were almost to Virginia and getting a bit tired so I started looking for campgrounds…. We saw one in Trailer Life that we thought sounded OK in White Sulphur Springs, W. Virginia… We pulled off and went through the town only to find out that we were in the town where the Greenbrier Resort and golf Club is located… We drove right by it and kept on looking for the campground… With the interest I have always had in the PGA courses I sure wanted to see this one as did Bill but we could not find the campground that was listed in the book so we continued on…. We soon crossed the next border into Virginia… Our first stop was at the Visitors Center where we got a list of campgrounds… The closest one we could fit into was in Lexington, Va about 52 miles further…. We made that our destination and except for bad signing and passing it by we finally found what we wanted. The campground is called Lee Hi Campground and is really nice but you enter it through a truck center that is very very busy (has even been on the travel network) and you register at the restaurant… Once you get past all the trucks and drive up the hill you find a nice place that is over priced until you look out the back window and the view is then worth every penny…. We stopped for the night but already we know we will stay at least two… The City is very historical and we want to check it out… Come back tomorrow.. I’ll share it with you……………
