Sue's New Hat!

During our week in Chimacum we have spent considerable time in the town of Port Townsend about 8 miles to the northeast. We celebrated Sue's birthday there. As we enjoyed our dinner we had a nice view of the harbor and the Ferry that traverses the waters from Port Townsend to Anacortes.

We also enjoyed a couple of first-run movies at the Rose Theater. The theater, originally built in 1907, was refurbished in 1992. The interior decor has been especially well restored and has an aura of comfort that is enhanced when the movie is personally introduced by the theater owner. After the movie we drifted over to the Nifty Fifties Restaurant for a hot fudge sunday.

Sue likes to refer to Port Townsend as "funky." Indeed the people that we see in the town remind us of Santa Fe, NM. The shops in the shopping area carry clothes that can be described as "funky." The architecture is at least "quaint" if not "funky". Add to this funkiness a farmer's market and you get a town that is very entertaining!

Tomorrow we will be leaving Chimacum and heading toward the west coast of the peninsula.
