Morman Temple, Temple Square, Salt Lake City, Utah

Organ Pipes in the Tabernacle, Temple Square, Salt Lake City, Utah

7/8 – 7/9

Our next stop, 197 miles from Beaver on I-15, was a Wal-Mart parking lot in South Jordan, Utah. Jordan is about 15 miles south of Salt Lake City. We were going to stay at a campground in the area while we checked out Salt Lake City but the Wal-Mart manager, without prompting, invited us to stay for two or three days while we toured – can’t beat that! While in the Salt Lake City area Joan spent her time at the Mormon Family History Library researching genealogy. Ken spent his time in Temple Square where he took guided tours of the grounds (including the two visitor centers and the Tabernacle – home of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir), the Beehive House (built in 1854 and one of the residences of Brigham Young) and the Conference Center which includes a 21,000 seat auditorium and a 900 seat theater.
