Here we go again and again travel blog

Can’t believe it has been over a week since we left for Elkhart.. It only took us a couple of hours to get here and we got set up at Elkhart Campground.. Everything was going just fine but the next morning I woke up with a sore throat and things went downhill from then on… Boy was I sick… Fever, chills, and the whole nine yards for the best part of a week.. I am happy to say that I now think I will live although I still have a horrible cough and a lot of congestion deep in the chest.. It has been a long time since a cold did this to me but I suppose with the blood count being so low, it took more out of me than the usual sniffles that last a couple of days..

We have laid pretty low since we got here but still found ourselves on the go for parts of the day..

Sunday evening we packed up and moved over to the Keystone Service Center… Keystone is the Company that makes the Montana’s, Big Sky and several other trailers. We had some things that needed tweeking and it is hard to get that done when you are on the road full time… Remember, we bought our Big Sky in Florida and then left just three days later so we didn’t get a chance to take it in to our dealer as most people do We made a list as we were on the road that needed attention and then called Keystone with the approximate time we would be in the area and set up an appointment with them.. There is a very nice area set aside for people that are having work done on their RV’s. They have water and electric at four or five sites where you can come in the night before and then bright and early in the morning they come and take your house into the shop… If you are lucky, you will have it back before the end of the day and be on your way again but sometimes the repairs take several days so they will bring it back to you every night and come get it again in the morning…. When we arrived, our friends David and JoAnna were already set up in one of the sites and we pulled in next to them… We both had 7:30 am appointments the next morning.. We unhitched and all went out for a nice dinner that night… At 7:15AM, Darrell, the head of the Service Department came to us and went over all the details of what we wanted them to look at… They then took our Big Sky away and we went to some of the nearby towns that we so love in the Amish Country. We had lunch at one of our favorite Amish restaurants… Oh was it ever good. Normally I could spend hours in all the nice little shops and boutiques but this time I was just too sick so we did a lot of sitting in the shade until we got the call that we could come back and pick up our house… We were taken back into the shop and shown everything that they had fixed, including the tear to the underbelly that ripped out when we had the blow out with our tire.. They enhanced the temporary fix Bill had given it and congratulated him on the nice work he did… They were able to remove the duck tape and put the tape they use instead but the duck tape did serve the purpose until then… We were lucky and hadn’t run into a bunch of hard rain before this. Everything that we had asked for was done to perfection and many things that we hadn’t asked for… The technicians took great pride in their work and it sure showed.. They give such excellent service that is it any wonder so many of us have bought a second or third Montana?

Yesterday I started feeling much better (‘bout time) so the gal parked next to us and I went out and got a pedicure… Pam is another Big Sky Owner that will be coming to our rally next week and is staying in Elkhart this week also.. It was Pam’s first ever pedicure so that made it twice as much fun… She really enjoyed herself and say’s it sure would not be her last….

One of the main reasons we are staying this week at the Elkhart Campground (besides it being a nice campground) is that our dear friends Anne and Henry are just a couple of miles from us at their Daughter Wendy’s house… We have not seen them since we said good-by last fall in Bar Harbor after we all returned from Newfoundland.. We were so anxious to see them again but I did not want to give them any of my germs so we held off until last night…. We all went out to dinner at a wonderful Mexican Restaurant called El Camino Real. Great food and even better company… We were the last ones to leave the restaurant except for the guy vacuuming the carpet.. Today we met them and another couple for lunch.. Us gals came home afterward but the guys all went up to Michigan to a RV Surplus Store… Who knows when they will come back, or what they might have with them.. LOL.. We will all get together later tonight. It is so good to see them..

I’ll try to keep up with our activities a little more now that I’m feeling better.
