Ranch house, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site

Chuckwagon, Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site

Our house at Joanne and Chad's house

7/16 – 7/31

It took us two days to travel the last 426 miles (with an overnight stop at Rock Creek Lodge parking lot in Clinton, Montana) to Chad and our daughter Joanne’s home in Elk, Washington. Along the way we visited the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site in Deer Lodge, Montana. This site was, during its hay-day, the biggest cattle ranch in Montana. The farm house was built in 1862 and had 4000 square feet; a 5000 square foot addition was added in 1890. We received an excellent tour of the house, was fed beans and peach cobbler out by the old chuck wagon, and saw a display of buggies, wagons and sleds that were used on the ranch.

While at Joanne and Chads we have been:

>visiting,

>doing house maintenance,

>baby sitting for Jake and Squeaky (dog and cat) while Joanne and Chad went on vacation to the Oregon shore,

>canoeing and kayaking with Tony and Lisa (friends of Joanne and Chad) and Joanne and Chad,

>doing general housework and

>resting and relaxing.

In July we put 1298 miles on the house and another 743 miles on the Jeep.
