And they are off

The paintball warriors

9/12 – 9/28

It took us three days to travel 601 miles to Elk, Washington. We stayed overnight at the Wal-Mart in Mountain Home, Idaho and a highway pull-off north of New Meadows, Idaho. We found a great 4 star taco place in Belleville, Idaho called Taqueria el Pastor (321 Main Street). Both the beef and fish tacos were excellent.

We returned to Elk because our son Kenny was coming from Washington DC to visit his sister. It was great having two of our children together – but we missed our son Peter, Tori and “Big” Joe. While we were in Elk we:

>took Joanne and Chad out to the 4 star Taste of India (3110 N. Division St., Spokane, WA 509-0327-7313) to celebrate their 16th anniversary. As usual we had an excellent meal.

>acted as vehicle movers for Joanne, Chad and Kenny as they kayaked the Spokane River.

>“watched” Joanne and Chad’s friends, Kenny and Joanne and Chad made paintball war in Joanne’s yard. The war was followed by a barbeque for all the soldiers.

>dropped Chad and Kenny off so they could go mountain biking and then we all went to a 4.5 star sushi restaurant called Raw Sushi and Island Grill (523 W. 1st Avenue, Spokane, WA 509-747-0556). The rating of this restaurant was done by the kids since neither one of us has too much experience, nor too much appreciation for raw fish and seaweed. We did like the firecrackers since the delicious spicy sauce covered up the taste of the raw tuna and salmon. We also liked the “cooked” seafood cakes.

>went wine tasting with Joanne at two wineries in Spokane. Washington wines are pretty good.

>had a marathon pierogi (Polish dough pockets filled with various ingredients) assembly which yielded a multitude of tasty morsels.
