6/30 – 7/1
At about 11:15 AM our two motorhomes crossed the border into Alberta. They asked the normal questions about liquor, tobacco and guns and we were out of the border station in about two minutes. We traveled 47 miles along I-15 and PH4 to our first stop: Eight Flags Campground in Milk River.
There was plenty to see in this area. First we drove about 40 miles to Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park. A Blackfoot Indian guide took us on a tour of the petroglyphs (rock carvings) and pictographs (rock paintings). Next we drove 15 miles north of Milk River to the town of Warner where we visited the Devil’s Coulee’s Site and Museum. The Devil’s Coulee site is a valley where, in 1987, a 19 year old discovered small fossil fragments of dinosaur egg shells. It turns out that the location was a dinosaur nesting site. We had an excellent tour guide at the site who let us walk around and even discover egg fragments ourselves. Later when we toured the museum we saw an actual Hadrosaur (duck-billed dinosaur) embryo.
In the month of June we put on 2281 miles on our house and 723 miles on the Jeep.
