This last week has been quite different for us. We are still busy with family and one day we picked up daughter Coleen and took her to lunch in Stillwater… We went to the Dockside restaurant where we were able to sit outside and watch the boats going up and down the St Croix River. … It was a beautiful day and after hitting most of the shops, we wound up at the ice cream shop where Coleen treated us to some awesome sinful dessert…. Praline Pecan was the special of the day and it was wonderful.
This weekend was the annual Pow Wow Wacipi . It was 40 yrs ago that the Shakopee Mdewkanton Sioux Community was established as a Tribal Government, The Pow Wow is very well known and draws other tribes from all over the US and Canada. Bill and I went to see the show a couple of times but on Sunday Cheryl, Raleigh, Laura and Dave came over and we all went to see the Grand Entrance. It was pretty awesome… Hundreds of people from several tribes, all in their native costume that enter the big arena and dance to one very huge parade… It is awesome to watch…
At the same time that all this was happening, just a few miles away the PGA was going on. SIL Raleigh was lucky enough to get tickets to the practice rounds and brought me pictures to show you of Tiger. He never did get pictures of the eventual winner because as most of us, we had never even heard of him before….. Our bad. If you get to the PGA you deserve to be reckoned with.
I don’t know what is happening in the auto/truck industry lately but we have been out looking for a new truck to tow our house around…. There is nothing wrong with the one we have but we are not color coordinated any longer… Just kidding of course… Actually, we just have a lot of miles on our truck and this is the longest we have ever kept a truck or auto. We have close to 115,000 miles and even though they say we are just getting broken in, we are out looking for something new… We have been to several places and the salesmen have been awful… They all are very pleasant but they sure don’t go out of their way to try to sell us something…. In fact, we get the feeling that they could care less if they sell anything or not… Well the heck with Minnesota, we will look along the way…. Gee, I remember when selling a house for $60,000 was a big deal. Now a car in the same price isn’t worth an hours work.
We have spent a lot of our time the past few days catching up on housework. I dragged the ironing board out today and that is something I don’t do often but we have a few things that just call for ironing before wearing…. I am still sorting through and getting rid of things we brought with us five years ago and have never used.. By now I can get rid of them without any guilt. If I had done that earlier, I would always have wondered if we would miss it….. I will be heading a class on full time RV’ering at our upcoming Montana rally and this is one of the things I want to talk about…. We get so many questions from people wanting to join our lifestyle and one of the hardest things they have to think about is giving up their possessions. I will address that issue to the best of my ability and change the word possessions to things. Wish you could be there with us to hear what I have to say.
I haven’t taken many pictures of our campground this summer. We have spent several weeks here and it really is a very nice campground…. I caught a few during sunset the other night that I want to share… Later……………
