The two weeks we were in Duluth really flew by….. The first day after my sister arrived from California we spent shopping at the mall for cameras; not for me but for each of my sisters….. Jan had just ruined hers when she spilled a glass of something in her purse where she kept her camera and Miriam never did have a digital one so it was fun helping them pick out new ones… They weren’t looking for anything as big as the one I carry around but just a small purse size. They both wound up with Kodak Easy Shares that will be ideal for them…. Bill was with us and very patient with all of our running around… Jan never shops while in California so whenever she is with me we go to buy…. Fun

Another day, we went to the neat little town of Hayward, Wisconsin….. It is a big tourist area with great golf, fishing and lots of tourist shops…. It was fun with just the three sisters poking around the town and having a great lunch together…… The weather had really turned bad for about three or four days and my son Randy cut his trip at the Boundry Waters short. He returned to Duluth for a few days before going back to his home in Southern Wisconsin….. He stayed at my daughter Terri’s and we all got together for Sammy’s Pizza one day…. Sure wish my other daughter Coleen could have been here but we never seem to get us all together at the same time….

Over the weekend we had some friends from the Montana Owners Club come to our park and stayed for three days…. We had a fun time together.. I played tour guide and we spent one day on Canal Park and the Rose Gardens at Leif Erickson Park….. Of course that meant having dinner at Grandma’s Restaurant which is one of our favorites…. The gals went into all the little shops while the guys found husband benches right in front of Cold Stone Creamery… Imagine that.

While we were at Canal Park we watched a ship come in under the Arial Bridge from Antigua…. They would be loading beet pulp which is used for animal feed after all the sugar has been removed from the sugar beets… It would take about three days to load this boat… Later on we saw a cruise ship leave to return to Toronto where the passengers would then return back to Germany… Wouldn’t that be a fun trip?

Another day we drove up the North Shore of Lake Superior…. It was a beautiful day and we stopped at one of our favorite State Park where Gooseberry Falls is located…. This is an area that has several falls cascading down to Lake Superior… We were only able to see three of them this time but at one time Bill and I hiked all the way to the top and saw several more…. The hike was a rough one and I don’t think I would trust myself on the rocks like that today: however the ones we saw with just some short hikes were beautiful.

We continued up the North Shore a bit further until we came to a viewpoint of the Split Rock Lighthouse…. I have put several pictures on before of this but will do it again for anyone that did not see them the first or second time… I never tire of the view along Lake Superior and it was great to be able to share it with friends and family again.

The rest of our time was filled with just being together with family…… The park we stayed at in Superior was not bad if you didn’t need to use their laundry room or showers……. They sure weren’t the cleanest… I am always grateful that we have our own with us whenever we find a place like this….

The park has a seventy mile trail that is right behind the grounds and Bill often walked that in the early mornings until one day he encountered a black bear…. The bear didn’t seem interested in Bill but he found a different trail after that… You just never know with wild animals.

Time fled by and soon it was time to leave my hometown… Jan got on her plane and returned to California and Bill and I packed up and headed back toward Minneapolis.

Right now we are half way there at our favorite campground in Hinckley where they allow RV washing… There are not many places that let you wash your rig so Bill is in his glory…. He got the Big Sky all clean but the wind came up so bad that he stopped before we got the windows done…. Hopefully today he can do the outside and I will do the inside….. We know it will not be long before they are all dirty again but it still feels good to have them clean for awhile… I will catch up on all my laundry too since our next stop at Lake Elmo doesn’t have water or sewer….

Later from the Metro…………….
