Meandering to Quebec & The Maritime Provinces travel blog

That's one way to keep your motorcycle seat dry

How I spend my time on rainy days

We had seen just about everything we wanted to see around this area so it was time to move on. We couldn't find RV sites in the Shediac / Cap Pele area other than unserviced sites (that's dry camping with access to water and dump station). While we'd do that if we had no other alternative, we decided to stop short of the beach area just a little south of Miramichi. This made a nice short driving day and a relaxing afternoon. The owner of the RV Park in Bathurst told us the campgrounds in that area are full because it's 'construction week' in Quebec, that's when the construction workers take a week off, and they all flee the Province to head to the beaches on the Northumberland Strait in New Brunswick.

Tomorrow, we plan to do Kouchibouguac National Park, but the weather is a big question mark. Lots of rain heading this way.

Update on July 30....we scrapped Kouchibouguac NP because the rain was coming down in torrents. This is a beach / marshes / hiking trails kind of National Park and wouldn't be very enjoyable in the rain..........so, we sat out another rainy day....consoling ourselves that we could be broiling in the Northwest or parched and roasting in TX...we'll take a few rainy days.

Tomorrow, we head to Prince Edward Island, about 125 miles away.
