Summer 2009 - Westward over the Mountains travel blog

It looks like we will finally be heading north this week. Our planned departure day is Tuesday although it might slip to Wednesday.

The major event of the week was my catheterization on Wednesday. It turns out that I have only minimal blockage in my artery despite previous test indications. That's good news but strangely disappointing at the same time. I had kind of hoped that they would fix something that would improve my run endurance! But I suppose it's better that there wasn't a problem.

We ended up in the emergency room on Thursday when there apparently was some minor leakage in the area of the cath insertion. The area suddenly started to swell and there was a moderate pain in my right leg. They performed a sonogram at the Denton emergency room and determined that there was no continuing leakage or blockage. So, although I now have a nasty looking bruise on my upper leg, we still are planning to head north.

One plus of the situation is that we will see Jeff one more time before we leave. We are picking him up at the airport this evening after having dinner with the Karrs.

So, hopefully, by next week we can tell you about some travel adventures!
