It really is a nice KOA

Sheridan was a fun stop but we left there early this morning to get to Billings as early as possible.      The drive was beautiful.      Again, we had the mountains to the west of us and soon had beautiful fresh seeded farmland on the east side.     The only complaint we had was the lack of anything in between.       Neither Wyoming or Montana have rest stops less than 80-100 miles apart.      When we got to the Montana border we thought we would have a tourist center so we could pick up our maps etc. but the sign said it was still another 52 miles before we would find one in the town of Harding.       We had to drive right into town and while we were there we found a McDonalds so we could get our caffeine fix..      Starbucks?     Forget it, not a chance.        Most RV’ers know that there are only a couple of camp grounds in Billings.     One is the Yellowstone Campground and the other is the KOA just down the road a couple of blocks.      Both are on the Yellowstone River and there is nothing wrong with either of them except the price.       If you want to stay in Billings you have to pay the price.     We chose the KOA because we had accumulated about $40.00 in extra discounts this past year.    Even so, two days still cost us $75.00 and we aren’t even in the deluxe sites.         This KOA is the first KOA in the World and they are very proud of it.We are in Billings to visit Grandson Michael and his darling wife Alissa and to meet for the first time our five month old great grandson Xavier.     It would be worth it at ten times the cost.       We arrived around noon and it wasn’t more than about ten minutes until Michael and Xavier came to see us.     It was great.       We spent the afternoon just enjoying each other.     I made lunch for us all and got to hold and feed the little sweetheart all afternoon.      He is at the age where he loves to stand up on your lap and laugh.       I stole a whole bunch of kisses on those cute little soft cheeks and intend to get a lot more before we leave here.Alissa got home from work about 4:00 so we went over to their house a few miles away and Michael put chicken on the grill.     It was such a nice day and great to be with the kids. When we got back to the KOA, we walked to the Yellowstone River which is really full right now.      We spotted a beaver that I was able to catch on camera and then came back to sit outside on the swing we have in our yard.     The weather is perfect and not a mosquito in site.     Life is great and we can’t wait until tomorrow.Later……………………
