Camping at Buffalo Bill State Park

Buffalo Bill Dam, Cody, Wy

9/14 – 9/19

It took us three days to drive 607 miles through Idaho and Montana to get to Cody, Wyoming (SR41, SR54, US95, I-90, US89, US20). The first night we stopped at a fishing access spot in Saint Regis, Montana. The second at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Bozeman, Montana. The third day included a beautiful drive through Yellowstone park (with a few stops to let the bisons cross the road – buffalo to Ken). We stayed at two places while in Cody. The first was the Yellowstone Valley Inn and RV Park for two nights and then two more nights at Buffalo Bill State Park. Our campsite overlooked the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. While we were in Cody we:

>visited the Buffalo Bill dam which, at the time it was built in 1910, was the tallest dam in the world at 325 feet.

>spent two days seeing the Buffalo Bill Historic Center. This center includes five excellent museums: Draper Museum of Natural History, Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Whitney Gallery of Western Art and the Cody Firearms Museum.

>went to the Tecumseh’s Miniature Village and Museum.
