PEI to Noel, NS
The first 60 miles were a reverse of the route we took to PEI. We had to pay a toll on crossing the 8 mile long Confederation Bridge. Ours was $54 for the motorhome and car. The toll is paid on exit only. Seems designed to keep PEI residents from leaving as the auto fee is almost $40; not a small sum for them.
Thirty miles later crossing the bridge we entered Nova Scotia. Stopping at the Welcome Center for maps we were greeted by a young lady Piper in full Scottish Dress.
A bit further along the route we took a short side trip to Springhill to visit the Anne Murray Center. Following her first hit SNOWBIRD she quickly became Canada's most successful female singer with dozens of #1 recordings. It's a very nice Museum, which she built in her small hometown. Proceeds from the Museum, plus money spent in town by visitors, benefit local services. Springhill's fame prior to Anne Murry had been two tragic coal mine accidents.
The last 30 miles were over extremely rough road - narrow with no shoulders and poorly repaired damage in the right lane. Most of the time you could not avoid it due to oncoming traffic.
The Campground normally used by Adventure was a primitive grass site and very soft due to recent rains. Fearless Leader chose to park the Carava along the side of a three lane wide gravel road leading to the Burncoat Lighthouse. We had a parking lane, Happy Hour lane, and driving lane.
Supper was a pot luck provided by the Burncoat Society ladies. What a feast. There were at least 20 dishes, and no two were alike.
After supper we took advantage of the low tide to view the extensive exposed beach and a great sunset.
