And the Arch as darkness falls

You’ve heard of “Singing in the Rain”, well, we were more like “Driving in the Rain”. A light mist fell all day, barely heavy enough to need windshield wipers every once in a while; but, definitely heavy enough to trash the Jeep in tow.

We fueled up at Flying J in Sullivan, MO; not necessarily because we needed fuel, but because it’s the cheapest we’re going to find for a while. Even so, it was still $2.36 / gallon for diesel. From there it was an easy run to the campground; overall, about 280 uneventful miles for the day.

We decided to stay on the Illinois-side of the river this time at Casino Queen RV Park. This is a nice park with full hook-ups and nice long pull-through sites. The section we’re in also has nice grassy areas and small trees. Foxy likes the grass and the satellite dish likes the small trees. We have a nice view of the Gateway Arch and the St. Louis skyline from the motor home. It’s very cool here today but the rainy mist has finally stopped and the next couple of days look decent.

We went to the Casino for supper at the buffet; it was OK but certainly nothing to write home about. Since neither one of us is a gambler, the advertised “loosest slots” didn’t lure us in. In fact, it didn’t look as if too many were lured in; the casino was very quiet indeed.

We’re looking forward to a relaxing evening and we’ll stay here a couple of days.
