We head into Deerfield. It is a historic town started as an English settlement in 1690. The settlers were than driven out in King Philip's War, the town burned and not resettled until 1682. We drive around looking at the historic buildings. Nearly every building in town looks old, but we decide that those from the mid 1850's forward are old, but the ones from 1700 to 1850 are historic.

As we are driving around we notice lots of young people all dressed in dresses, or slacks, jackets and ties, school of some kind but what. We finally ask, Deerfield Academy, a high school, obviously private, or catholic.

That's it for tonight, tomorrow we are off to Springfield and the Armory and the Dr. Seuss National Sculpture Gardens.
