On Tuesday we made the short scenic drive from Ketchum northward on Idaho 75 to Stanley. We only got about fifteen miles before we made a stop at Billy's Bridge.

The site gets its name as a viewing spot for mountain goats. Although we didn't see any goats, the view was terrific anyway.

Route 75 crosses Galena Summit where there is an overlook that gives the first view of the Sawtooth Mountains.

A bit further north on the highway is a second overlook that provides a view of the range that clearly shows where its name came from.

Stanley lies in the Salmon River Valley about sixty miles north of Ketchum.

Stanley
It is a pretty town with a permanent population of about 100 folks.

We'll be in Stanley for a week.
