From here we drove up to Jay Peak and took the aerial tram to the top of the mountain. The peak is 3,821 feet a rise of 2000 feet from the base of the lift. There are 76 ski runs on the mountain and the area is just beginning to have the leaves change colors. The mountains look like a paisley scarf laid out below you.
At the top the wind was blowing and the temperature was about 20 degrees cooler. On a clear day you can see as far to the west as Lake Champlain, to the east Mt. Washington, to the north, Montreal and almost to Montpelier to the south.
We had a little cloud cover today and it was hazy so even though you could see a long ways it was not clear.
We stayed on top for 30 minutes before coming back down and meeting Mike.
We tried to find an antique store or two that were open but had no luck so we headed for home and stopped by a few more covered bridges on the way.
Everyone freshened up a bit and we headed up the toad to North Troy and the North Troy Village Restaurant. Dinner was great and we sat there until closing just talking about everything, place we had been that ranged from islands in the Pacific during WWII to just recent trips around the US.
We are headed to New Hampshire tomorrow.
