We’ve spent the last 142 nights in the Sunshine State. Actually, more accurately, Foxy and the motor home have been in Florida that long. We got away on a couple of cruises and I spent a week in Ireland; but, we’ve still spent a considerable amount of time in the state. So, today, we saw Florida in our rearview mirror and crossed into Georgia…just barely. We are at a campground at Exit 1 just for the night as we quickly transit through Georgia in route to South Carolina.
We had an uneventful drive of about 230 miles. We took I-75 to Ocala and then diverted east to US 301 to Jacksonville. A quick rest stop break and then lunch at McDonald’s were our only stops and we were at the campground at 2 o’clock. This park has lots of tall pine trees but Joe was able to get a satellite signal OK. We didn’t bother disconnecting the car; we didn’t plan to go anywhere so we had dinner at home and we all benefited from a couple of good long walks.
I caught up with Mom. The early time change in the U.S. gives me a wider window in which to call; now, there’s only a 4-hour time difference until Ireland changes time the end of the month. Our cell phone reception is really bad here so my conversation with Mom was brief. I decided to just text the rest of the family.
We’re looking at Walterboro, SC for tomorrow, which should be a short, easy ride, so until then, that’s all the news from the nomads.
P.S. We've assembled the collages of some of our favorite photographs of our memories of Florida. I will load them to this page as I get them finished. I call them "All Kinds of Everything that Remind us of Florida". We hope you enjoy them.
