Blue skies, a little nippy but bright and clear, maybe the trees will start to do their thing now.

We will be following US 1 along the Maine coast today. This road traverses lots of small towns and some beautiful countryside. The trees are in red, orange, yellow, and green with a few purple thrown in. The towns are small; most have a population of less than 3,000 with some as low as 400-500.

Colonial style homes are prevalent with a few Victorian and Cape Code thrown in. Some have lots of gingerbread, others just a little. Of course center in most of these towns is the church with a steeple and in some cases a bell.

Searsport is one of these towns. It was a major shipbuilding port in the late 1700's to late 1800's. Many of the large homes are now B&B's with widow's walks on the top. It is also the antique capital on Maine's mid-coast.

Belfast was once a prosperous shipbuilding center also and the town is filled with Federal and Victorian style homes.

12:30 Our campground is out in the countryside amongst the trees. We are just outside of Freeport, ME at the Hilltop Campground. It is a Passport America park so the cost for the night is under $16.00. It is nice, W&E no sewer and the satellite won't work, but that is not a major problem.

We get directions to an RV Super Center in Auburn and head out. We are having problems with the electrical portion of the hot water heater. The propane part works fine. If we can find the parts we can fix it ourselves.

Finally found the place, no parts so it is back the other directions to Freeport. Freeport is the home of L.L. Bean and even though the town looks like any other the majority of the shops are factory outlets. We hit L.L. Ben, buy nothing, Maidenform, bras and Wilson Leather, a belt. Then we look at Shaker furniture. I don't think so, $519 for one plain slatted dining room chair.

Finally it is Shaw's for groceries and then back to the RV. Just after dinner we are watching a video when all of the sudden the TV goes off. Well it is not only us but a couple of other rigs as well. Seems like the park is experiencing some problems with his wiring so we can the video and the electric heater and just take our showers and go to bed.
