Outashoorn-Cango Caves- to Knysna

We ate breakfast at the Park Restaurant and then drove the 26 km to the Cango Caves. The Cave is only the 120th ranked in length, but ranks 5th in number of visitors. The last chamber is only accessable thru a flooded passageway and the Parks Department has filmed it and then closed it to any future visitors to insure it remains pristine. They have had lots of vandalism from souvineer seekers in the first chambers. The first chamber was excavated on the floor to create a music auditorium, which was used up until 1996, but so many visitors were sneaking into the other chambers and doing damage that

the auditorium is no longer used.

We made another mountain drive back to the coast to Knysna. It was rated as SA's favorite town in '05 & '06. Great seacoast town and we had a great campground. It started to rain about the time we arrived, and continued all night.

We had an evening dinner cruise. It left the waterfront and drove about a kilometer out to the bay entrance and just turned around in circles until dinner was over. The waterfront however was a tourist shopper's dream. It would be revisited in the morning.
