Fort Amarillo RV Resort

View from our campsite

We drove a lot longer than we usually do to get from Dallas to Amarillo but we managed to arrive at Fort Amarillo RV Resort about 15 minutes before they closed. It turns out to be a good thing that we pushed ourselves instead of stopping after our 200 miles like we like to do. We decided to stay here thru Sunday since that is Easter and give ourselves some down time for awhile.

Yesterday was a day of running around trying to find the things we need. Our compressor bit the dust a few days ago and Bill was looking for a new one as well as some special screws and staples to fix a few things. It’s a good thing that we were not on the road because the wind was so strong we would not have pulled our house in it.

I must say, it is nice to stop for a bit and see some new sites. Amarillo is a great city with the population of about 175,000. There seems to be plenty to see and do. Today we plan on going into the Canyon. My camera will be on my shoulder and although it is quite cool today, it should be a great day for sight-seeing and maybe some hiking.
