Releasing a Reluctant Mouse

We left the ranch on Wednesday morning. Our week-long stay there turned out to be more interesting than we expected. The several hundred cattle on the ranch were interesting to observe and walk through. Unfortunately I somehow deleted the photos that we took of the herd and individual steers.

We also had the mice who spent a couple of nights with us. There turned out to be three of them and we were successful in trapping and releasing them into a part of the ranch distant from the See Ya.

As we headed south on route 395 the road ran beside Goose Lake for about 10 miles. The view of the lake cemented our notion that these folks are in a real drought. The lake was completely dry!

We spent last night in a nice campground in the small community of Standish, CA in the sparsely populated desert of Northern California. We had dinner in a restaurant in Janesville, about 8 miles south of Standish, at The White House. I mention it because it is located in town away from the highway where you wouldn’t want to locate a restaurant. The surprise was that the food was Thai and American and was excellent.

Today we continued south and east on 395 just north of the Sierra Nevada Range and into Reno and Carson City where we headed west on route 50 back into California and South Lake Tahoe. The See Ya is set up under the tall pines at the Tahoe Valley RV Resort and I have managed to find enough of a hole in the trees to get Direct TV. We plan to spend two weeks here.
