A short 69 miles brought us to our own little lot in the Rover’s Roost campground in Casa Grande, Arizona. We leased the lot almost two years ago and this is only the second time we have stayed on it. We plan on staying here for awhile – the only expense is the electricity so we should be able to save a little money.

While in Casa Grande:

>we visited with old friends

>Joan worked on her new (someone else’s castoff) bike and got it on the road

>we test drove a number of cars (Honda CR-V, Jeep Liberty, Ford Escape Hybrid, Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Saturn Vue) to replace our Jeep. Ken liked the Liberty and Joan picked the CR-V (gas mileage won out over ride and gadgets). We are still discussing price with a couple dealers, both in Phoenix and Spokane, Washington (we should be in Washington sometime in July).

>we ate at a number of great fast food Mexican stands in town

>we both joined the library, now we have library cards in four different locations

>Joan paints with an art group at the town’s senior center

>we attended a number of different park functions – Joan enjoyed bean bag baseball.

>our friends Barry and Suzanne just got back from Baja and we visited with them. Found out that they are serious folk music lovers. Barry lent Ken a book written by Dave Van Wronk.

>Ken bought a new gas grill to keep on our lot. We tested out the rotisserie, it cooked a delicious chicken.

>we went to a community concert in town. The group was quite good and featured Beatles music.

One of the reasons for being in this area is to get some warranty work done on our house at a service place in Phoenix. Our plans changed a little when we found out that the company that built our house closed their doors this month. Well, there goes the warranty! At least we have received warranty work for the last three years but we really feel sorry for the folks who just purchased a new coach – it can’t be a pleasant experience.

Another reason for being in this area is that we have plane reservations in June to fly from Phoenix to Mazatlan, Mexico. So we will be in the area for awhile.
