In our last entry I mentioned that we were going to the beach with friends. We met Ken and Sandy at a neat restaurant that sits right on the beach at New Smyrna. After a delicious of fish we all piled in Ken’s truck and drove the sand as far as we could go. We came to the inlet that separates New Smyrna from the Daytona area and the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. That is the first time we have been on the other side of the lighthouse. The only way to reach the lighthouse is to drive all around to Hwy 1. Ken and Sandy have never been to that lighthouse before but I’ll bet they will before long. We had such a nice day with them and hated to see it end. We have made arrangements to meet them over here next week.

Friday we spent the entire day getting ready for the yard sale. Bill and I brought a ton of things that I had planned on selling but by the time we got everything there, I decided to just donate it all to the club and whatever money it brought in could be used for the things we need there. Several hard workers priced everything that was donated while other volunteers were baking for the bake sale that was held at the same time. We finally finished up just in time for a quick shower before about fourteen of our neighbors went out fro dinner. Course Friday night is games night so as soon as we got back from dinner, we went bowling. I had another 200 game which made me happy, even though every bone in my body was aching.

Saturday morning came around way too fast. We had set the alarm for 5:45 am so I could be at the clubhouse by 6:30 for the sale. Hey… I thought that stopped when you retired…… By 7:00 people were lined up waiting to by their goodies. … Geez, the sale didn’t even start until 7:30. Oh well, money is money so we opened for business. We continued to be busy right up to closing time and made a nice little pocket of money for the clubhouse. At this rate, it won’t be long before our big screen TV will be paid for.

Saturday night was a Valentine Party at the main hall and what a beautiful party they put on. For $5.00 a plate, we had a wonderful dinner of salad, roast beef, ham, potatoes, green beans almandine, rolls, bread and butter. It was soooo good. Dessert was one of the prettiest cakes we have ever seen. The hall was decorated so nice. It was really special. It was also our wedding anniversary. We ate the great food, danced one dance but before the cake was even served I was so tired that my face was almost falling in my plate. We came home before 8:30 and I promptly fell asleep. I heard that we missed a great evening but this time I really needed the rest. Getting ready for our new house is really a lot of hard work.

By Sunday morning I was all rested and raring to go again. We left about 9:30 in the morning and went to the Market of Marion for my fruits and veggies. We were also looking for some more new plants to replace the ones that froze. We didn’t find what we wanted at the market so our next stop was a nursery. We found two new Mexican Petunias bushes and continued on down to The Villages where we had lunch before doing some more shopping. We also had to make several stops on the way home at the grocery store, Lowes and Walmart. It was after 3 when we finally got home.

Monday was another busy day. I washed all the bedding including mattress pads and blankets getting ready to move our Select Comfort into the new house. Now that we got rid of a lot of things at the yard sale, I was able to start packing some things in bins to make our move between the two RV’s easier. We’ll be working on that over the next couple of weeks. I ended my evening at the Monday night bingo where I was real lucky and won two games. One of them was the big one. (well as big as you can get in an RV park)…. Later
