HEY,
WHAT’S WITH THIS?
We are in Florida, the “Sunshine State” right? Well I must say that the sun is shining but what about the wind? 35 to 40 MPH and the temps to fall overnight to 18 degrees. Al Gore, where is the global warning???? Do you think he will give back his Nobel Prize? Not a chance.
I know that all of you in the North wonder what we’re complaining about but here in the South, all of the plants and trees need a much warmer climate. We have covered everything with blankets several times this year but a lot has still frozen. If the temperature falls as much as expected, it will be a record low since records have been kept. We carry as much as we can into the shed and turn a heater on but we can’t bring everything in. Well, the next two nights will be a real trial but by Saturday, we should be back to the wonderful 70’s and 80’s that we so love.
The last week has been so busy that we haven’t had time to retire. We have been working harder than we did when we got paid for it. We also have had a lot of fun along the way. Let’s see if I can remember it all.
Hummmm. Wednesday Bill and I went shopping for some needed stuff. Thursday was a real rainy day and girls day out. Lanell, Shirley and I went shopping and out to lunch. The weather was awful but we had a ball. We combined business with pleasure while we were out so didn’t feel the least bit guilty.
During the daytime, Bill and I have been going through every drawer, closet and cupboard to get rid of anything that we haven’t needed this past year. There is a yard sale coming up at our park in about a week and we are donating a bunch of things to the sale. Other things are being given to charity as fast as we can. Gee, you wouldn’t believe how much stuff we have accumulated this past four years.
After a very busy Friday, Bill took me out to one of my favorite seafood restaurants. It has been a long time since just the two of us went out for dinner and it was so nice. On the way home we stopped at the Social Hall where the park was having a Wii bowling night. Wow, what a fun time that was. This was our first time that we have spent an evening with Wii. I’ll bet it isn’t long before we buy the games for our own use. In the mean time, we bowl three games that night and everyone had so much fun that they are doing it again every Friday evening.
Saturday was concert day at Silver Springs Park. This time the stars were Collin Raye and Restless Heart. We expected to see two different concerts but instead, they both teamed up and put on one big show. It was excellent…. We enjoyed every encore.
Sunday…. Super Bowl Sunday…… What a fun time. Our Club House had a Tail Gate party. That meant many of us went early and set up for the party. By 4:00 the hot dogs were on the grill. Potato salad, beans and all the other good things were ready and the people started coming in. My job was to collect the $3.00 that we were charging for the food since I am treasurer of the activities committee. We had a real good turn out and earned more money toward all the things we need at the club house…
At 6:00 exactly, we were all ready for some football. Everything was cleaned up and the snacks came out. What a fun time…. Bill and I didn’t stay for the whole game because it got so loud and we wanted the quiet so we didn’t miss a commercial. LOL
We really didn’t care who won since neither of the teams were from our favorites but let me tell you, there are a lot of Steeler fans in our park. I continued sorting through cabinets while watching the game and got a lot done. What a great game. My favorite commercials were the Busch commercials. I just loved the one with the two horses falling in love.
Monday was another day of hard work on sorting and eliminating and bingo Monday evening. Tuesday I spent most of the day working on some of our friend’s taxes while Bill worked outside on cleaning up the RV. He removed all of the maps that we have been filling in for the last four years. Whoever buys our house will have to start their own.
Today was a continuation of sorting and packing along with grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. Gee I’m beat….. But it’s a good feeling. Later…..
