Here we go again and again travel blog

We must have had an angel with us yesterday. In fact, we know we had an angel with us yesterday. Here is what happened.

There was a bus trip to Tampa to the Hard Rock Casino that was leaving from down the road about 5 miles. I had signed up to go along with some of our friends but Bill didn’t want to go. He said he would drive me and another couple to the bus and pick us up on the return trip. At 8:00a.m. I was all set and we went to pick up Shirley and Hector for the short ride. About 4 miles into the ride, on our way to the bus, we saw a tire bouncing at a very fast speed heading right for our truck. It came off of a

Van going in the opposite direction at a very high speed. Bill had visions of the tire hitting the truck and coming thru the windshield. In that split second he was able to swerve sideways and then right the truck again so that when the tire hit it was on the left side of the truck. The sound was horrendous. He pulled over to the side and we all got out to see what happened. We expected to see the entire left side of the truck smashed but those little angels had directed the tire to our rear tire and it hit the hub cap. The hub cap was no where around but later found in three pieces about ¼ mile away. Outside of the missing hubcap, we had a lot of rubber from the run-a way tire that we were able to rub off.

Bill took us to the bus and then returned to find the hubcap and talk to the poor guy that lost his tire. He was pretty badly shaken and was so glad that no one was hurt. Bill didn’t have the heart to tell him that we were hit and decided to spare him the insurance claim on our truck. We were so thankful that all it cost was just under $50.00 for new hubcaps.

Replaying this freak accident over and over in our minds, I am sure that had I been driving we would have rolled over or at least had a lot of dents in the truck but for some reason Bill did what Hector calls a very “evasive maneuver.”

Well the Angels came through where it counted but they left me at the casino. I had a great time but sure didn’t win anything to write home about.

We will never forget how fast something can happen and are so thankful that we didn’t have our house on the back when we tried to avoid this accident. It could have been so much worse.
