This is the diary of my once in a lifetime trip - inspired by my maternal grandfather William Edwards - who at the age of 19, left the coalfields of Wales to take a ship and start a new life in Africa. His stories of that experience and later move to Toronto endeared him to me all of my life. Joining me on this adventure are my two travel companions, son Mike and his friend Katherine , who have experienced the beauty of South Africa on previous occasions, and also seem to have the patience to deal with my fading memory!...God bless them!!
