Mon 31st July: Today we set out to discover the attractions around bath our first stop was Laycock. A quite little Village With a pretty spectacular Abbey. This was the Abbey they used in the Harry Potter film. They also had some traditional english gardens (Which are just weeds and thistles)Although the gardens had some ofthe biggest sunflowers i have seen. We tried to have lunch for about a half hour but the power went out to the entire town, apparently a regular accurance. When the power finaly came back on we sat in a typical english pub and had a pint and lunch. From here we headed north to an other village castle Combe. The castle has long sence perished but the village is spectacular. The streets are narrow and lined with little cottages. There is also a pretty spectacular golf club, We spent a bit of time wondering the grounds.

Tues 1st August: Today it was an early rise to pack a picnic and heading south to Glastonbury. We spent the morning looking around the town and Abbey grounds. This was where King Arthur was buried and is a great place for relaxing. Although the wind was howlling today. We set up our picnic under the only shelter we could see and had some relief from the wind while we looked out over the ruins. After lunch it was back into the car and for a drive to see the Tor ( a stone tower on top of a large hill) Needless to say we didn't walk to the top. Our next stop was Wells a very small city i think it is the smallest in England. We wondered the streets for a while just taking in the sights and following the signs to the Cathedral. The cathedral just sneeks up on you, one moment you can't see anything the next you hve this giant building staring straight at you. The view from the outside is spectcular, the stone carvings are so intraget. The inside is even better with so much emphasis on detail. There is so much space inside you are just in awe while walking through. From the Abbey we had a brief look at the Bishops palace which is next to the cathedral andit was time to head back to Bath as i was feeling very tired from driving.
