12/9 Long day drive. Left Montreal early and took a bypass around Quebec City. Signs still all in French and getting worst, but we manage to navigate fairly easy. Stopped en route for lunch and chose the scenic route following St Lawrence River and up and down the hills until we could not go any further. Literally. The road ended and we had to take a ferry. It was free and quick. It was dark and cold by the time we reached Tadoussac and although we found the campground we decided to stay in a motel for 2 nights.

13/9 Up and breakfast early. Free shuttle bus to the sea front and hurrah - whale watching. Fingers crossed. 5 min outside the harbour we spot some white dots that are apparently beluga whales. Rare and endangered species. From there on we saw nothing and as we started to think that is it no more whales for us, they all come and play. It was loads of them. Mostly Minkies, but also some Fin whales (the second largest whale). Most people stayed on the top deck, whilst we nipped down the stairs to the stern of the boat (back of the boat for those of you like me, not having a scooby what stern is). We had the whole platform to ourselves and the whales enjoyed catching our drift so we had a perfect views. Lenkie was so excited it was almost unbelievable. It was catching and soon Ste joined in - we started running from side to side, yell and point and indeed take some photos. The guide was good, she came over to talk to us and made sure we were OK. Spent 3 hrs on the boat. It was great. Well worth waiting for and not that expensive either. We then strolled round the cove. On the beach we watched the end of a 3 day endurance kayak race. Went back to the motel, picked up the apple and went out to hack into someone's net. Dropped off the apple and headed out for a nice dinner.

12.9 Ztravili jsme cely den na cestach. Vyjeli jsme z Montreal brzy rano a objeli jsme Quebec. Doslova.

Minki a Fin velryby. Byly nadherne.
