Kalgoorlie - May 17, 2007 - Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, Australia

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have safely made it to Kalgoorlie. It was a 7 hour train ride from Perth but the most comfortable transportation I've ever taken! I started working in the pub on Monday and I love it! The people here are so nice! I live in the hotel above the pub and now I have my own room!!! My own bed, a tv, and even a fridge!! Wow!! It might not be that special to most people but it's plush to me after some of the places I've been living in! It's a small place but I think I'll really enjoy my time here. There's another backpacker from Ireland who's been working here for the last 3 months too. The only problem is that when you aren't working the only thing to do is drink in the pub!

My first night here they took me out for a night on the town and I was told a prerequisite for working there is you have to drink......I said I like beer and they said I was hired! Hopefully I'll be working everyday so I save up money for New Zealand. It's nice to actually be doing something with my days now.

I'll try to get some pics up here soon but internet out here is $1 for 5 minutes!! So I don't think I'll be on here very often. I'll try to update you all as much as possible but no guarantees! Take care everyone!!
