Luono - Italian Riviera

Overnight train from Salzburg. Excellent train service and we were woken wıth a cup of coffee and roll at 5 am, 40 minutes before our train pulled in. Genoa is the birthplace of Christopher Columbus - his house is still standing and is built right next to the ancient city gate. Tried to order lunch but could not understand the menu. The waitress did not speak English but brought over another customer who helped us select. Started talking to him - it was Dicko's dad who lives ın Genoa. He was quite a character. Our main reason for coming here was the Cinque Terre Walk. This is a 12km walk along the coastline from Monterosso al Mare to Riomaggiore and passing through 3 other pretty little towns. The coastline was beautiful. The best part was that it finished at a wine bar overlookıng the water where the coke was more expensive than the Jack Daniels. Off to Luona on the Italian Riviera on the way to visit Lynne's school friend who lives ın Monaco. Spent 2 days beıng lazy and tried to contact Barbara with no success, amazingly Internet cafes are not open on Sundays, so we had to turn around and go back to Rome. So far the biggest attraction for Vern has been the superb ice creams.
