Hello

After the wicked experience in Kruger we went back to Jo' burg for a night before we headed out again and into the mountains. An area known as the Drakensburg to be exact. It's high and wild up here and the scenery really reminded me and James of the Scottish highlands.

We came here to a bit of hiking and to break up a full days driving. It's lovely, our lodge has huge panoramic windows which look out onto the mountain beyond and it has a lovely old fashioned aga stove which belts out the heat for the cold nights!

We set off yesterday morning for a full days hike into the mountains to a waterfall and found that 6 others form the lodge were going the same way. So we all set off together and had a great day, it's much more fun walking with a group coz when you get lost its funny, not scary!!!

We hiked most of the day and had a real laugh. There were 3 American students, a German couple and an American guy travelling on his own so it was a mixed bunch but we got on great.

After the hike, and lovely warm showers (even the weather was the spit of the Scottish highlands and we were soaked and cold be the time we had finished!) we spent the night playing cards and sipping the famous and delicious south African wine with our fellow hikers.

We are really enjoying South Africa and we have met some great people so far but the weirdest thing is that when anyone meets us they ask us where we live in South Africa!!!! Everyone seems to think that our broad Yorkshire accent is South African! As if!!! We can't sound like that coz even the South Africans can't understand us, lol!!! When we were picked up from the bus by the owner of the lodge, we stopped at the shop and I said this is great coz James is in love with south african steaks, when we came out of the supermarket we found the guy looking round a shop for walking sticks coz he though I said that james was in love with sticks!!!!!!
