Today's the day - I've been away for 6 months!!

I'm at Airlie Beach with Carl just now, where the weather's been lovely so we've been soaking up some sun (yes - even my amazingly untannable skin)! Ironically there isn't much of a beach here, but there's a man-made lagoon where everyone sunbathes and swims instead.

We rented a moke for 2 days to do some exploring - a moke is a small jeep about the size of a dodgem car!! It was hillarious! We went to Cedar Creek Falls where Carl wanted to jump off this big 30ft ledge (because eveeeryone was doing it...) but as I pointed out, if anything happened to him I'd be carting him to hospital in Jonno the moke at a top speed of 80kmph. We also visited Conway national park and Conway beach, Shingley Beach and sped around Airlie... although you know that when I say 'sped'...

Yesterday we went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef and visited Whitehaven Beach - where the sand is as the name suggests pure white. Snorkeling was amazing - I couldn't believe how many fish we saw!! And the reef itself was really colourful and beautiful. It took us about an hour and a half by boat to get to Whitehaven and it was definately worth it, the sand is so fine it squeakes when you walk on it.

Today we're just sunbathing and relaxing - drinking lots of beer! Then tonight we're taking a greyhound to Cairns which should take around 8 hours :( well, I suppose it's not that long!!
