Sheep Station and Bush Bowling World Champ!!Jan 18, 2005

Hey guys,
Well this isn't going to be much of a posting considering all we did today was drive. It was a really long day but I am really excited for the fact that tomorrow night I am going to be able to sleep in a tent. I have realized that I do like camping but I hate setting up and taking down the tent every day. Anyway we arrived on a sheep station just outside of a small roadside cafe called Cue. It was fun and I instantly made friends with the dog. But I didn't realize that there were two others and was attacked by another one. Anyway I kicked it quite hard!! Oops... but it stopped jumping and growling at me after that..ha ha. Anyway it was Steve's birthday and we threw him a party which was a lot of fun. He was given a little bowling pin set for his birthday (the woolworths in Cue was low on a lot of selections!! ha ha). Anyway a world championship of "Bush Bowling" ensued after a couple drinks and Canada is the proud world champion. It was a tough competion and some heated moments were had between Britain and Canada but I prevailed with the support of the Irish and Scottish competitors!! ha ha. Anyway it was a good laugh and it is really sad what sorts of games you resort too in the middle of the Australian Outback.
Anyway tomorrow I am heading to Perth so that I can sleep in a bed and enjoy my last day in Australia.

P.S. I learned this really funny story about this sheep farmer who was pissed off at the Australian government trying to tax his sheep so he made his own Country (yeah thats right country) in Australia called the Hut River Province. Anyway he just said his sheep farm (1000s of acres) is his own country. The government was then going to put him in jail and charge him with treason. Anyway he made himself the prince of his country and under commonwealth law a prince can not be hindered from performing royal duties and therefore the Australian government as part of the Commonwealth would be charged with treason. He then declared war on Australia for 3 days and they just ignored him... but then 3 days later he declared a settlement and now he is protected from invasion under the Geneva Convention!!! How hilarious is that?? He has his on post office and stamps your passports and has his own currency!! He tells everyone that he is the prince of the 2nd largest country on the contient!! ha ha ha... Only in Australia
