We all decided that since Kathy was fighting the cold that we would go different ways for the day. Chris & Judi went to Geelong about an hour West of Melbourne and Kathy & Dennis stayed in town.
A few years ago Judi started exchanging e-mails with Margaret who at that time was living in Canberra. They both were creating handmade note cards and this common interest evolved to a long distance friendship. Over the years we have talked on the phone a couple of times with both Margaret and her husband Spencer. Margaret's daughter Colleen joined in and now there were three writing each other.
In 2005-2006 Colleen's son Sean and his fiancee Beka were on a year long world wide holiday and were visiting the states. Everyone was able to coordinate a visit with us in February 2006. Sean and Beka stayed with us in Texas for a couple of days, those recollections are in Cookes Wanderings 2006.
Due to illness Margaret & Spencer have moved to a retirement home in Geelong to be near their daughter. Colleen and her husband Collin met us in town and guided us to have lunch with Margaret & Spencer. We had a very nice lunch and visit in a private dining room provided by the facility. Sean & Beka stopped in after Sean got off work. We visited a little while longer then said goodbye, much too soon
We followed Sean & Beka back to their house where after visiting and updating the Trip Journal Sean cooked on the barbie. Another round of goodbyes followed by a safe trip home had us in Melbourne about 1015PM.
Dennis and Kathy stayed in town and rode the Tourist Circle Tram around a few times stopping just before Kathy got dizzy. If you remember, Friday we missed the Firefighters' Museum, Dennis did not today. He spent a little over three hours talking with the guys and comparing notes on how they do business. For dinner they strolled up to Lygon Street where there are numerous choices for Italian Meals.
