Jodi and Mel's Travels through Southeast Asia! travel blog

We arrived in Ayuthaya the evening of Feb 22 and chekced into the Baan Lotus Guest House, which is an old teak house with a lotus pond in the back yard...beautiful! We were exhaused from a day of hiking around the Erawan Waterfalls and hours of riding on multiple local buses, so we promtly went to bed upon arrival...though were woken up a couple times by the howling of packs of wild dogs...

The next morning we awoke early and rented a couple of red bikes, and toured around Ayuthaya. We saw lots of temple ruins, which were very beautiful and interesting to tour. That evening, we did a night tour on a tuk tuk, where we viewed a number of ruins that were lit up by spot lights...we tried to get some good photos, but the night setting is a bit sticky.

After our night tour, we headed straight for the train station, to catch the "special" express train to Chiang Mai. We both managed to get upper sleeping bunks accross from each other...I wouldn't say it was comfortable, but it got us to Chiang Mai...nine and half hours later. We both agree, that the best part of the train ride was the squat toilet with the view of the train tracks below...theheheh...
