Ahhhhhhhhhhhh today was my day.
Robin took me to a wonderful Scandanavian spa today in Quebec. It is called Le Nordik and it is 5 different baths of differing temperatures outside set in the rocks and forest of the Gatineaus. The baths range from a whirlpool one at 36 degrees down to a waterfall cold one at 13 degrees. The idea of the spa is the scandanavian way of heating up in a hot pool, sauna or steam room and then quickly dipping in a cold one to close your pores. Then you rest until you feel you can do it again! This might sound crazy but it was heavenly I assure you! It is an adult spa - no one under 18 allowed. And they require all visitors to respect a quiet environment - they will actually ask you to be quiet if you're talking too much! There are hammocks set in the woods and stone massages if you want to enjoy them. It was wonderful and so nice to spend a day with Robin and without the demands of the kids.
Quinn and Alee spent the day taking care of the littler kids. They had a lazy day until about 3 pm and then headed out to Rideau Centre with Quinns friend Justin. They seem to have had a wonderful day and all seemed peacful and happy when we met them for dinner downtown.
Wayne is in Ottawa for a few days for some work meetings. (for those of you who don't know Wayne is my biggest brother from Vancouver). We met him at the Darcy Magee Irish Pub for dinner - shared with the kids, Robin, Susan (Robins MOm) and Justin. It was a great time - lots of laughter and love! Then Robin took Hayley and Maren home and Alee, Wayne, Quinn and I set out on a 90 minute Haunted Ottawa walking tour. What a fun way to see some of the city and learn about some of the history of it. We walked and walked and stopped at different buildings to hear about when they were built what for and then what the ghost story in that building is. Quinn's high school is haunted! What a blast.
After that we walked home and ended a long and wonderful day. Tomorrow we leave on a bus to Montreal. We are sad to say goodbye to Ottawa but looking forward to New York and we're all so happy that we don't have to say good bye to Robin yet - we have more fun to come.
Cheers!
