Day 50 Today’s Plan; Go to Fanshawe Conservation Area near London.

It has rained lightly, and heavily, most of the night. Getting up doesn’t change anything. It rains off and on as we start the day and have breakfast and pack up and dump the tanks and leave.

We go south to investigate my Gr. Grand Aunt’s birth place at Port Maitland, near Dunnville. It’s only speculation that she lived near this port and it proves to be as elusive as Brokenhead, so we carry on our way. The drive amid the farms and villages of southern Ontario is charming to say the least. The roads are good and wide and the pace at 80 Kph is relaxing. Traffic is light and strangely enough hardly anyone exceeds the speed limit here.

We marvel at the lawns people have here. A 15 to 18 hundred Sq.ft home might sit on an acre lot and have it all in lawn. The riding lawn mower business must thrive here. In Fact, we do see rows of riding mowers in front of many Hardware Stores and places that look like riding mower wreckers.

Fanshawe Cons. Area is as we expected. These areas are, I assume, run by the local city, municipality or township? They are like Provincial Parks. They are spacious with most amenities. We get settled in and the sun comes out. How portentous is that? We enjoy a drink or three under the awning and watch the towels dry. Life is Good!
