View from our campsite

Today we visited Forillon National Park of Canada. It is located at the very end of the Gaspe Peninsula. Gaspe means “end of the land”, and it certainly feels that way as you come around the peninsula and see nothing but the waters of the St Lawrence Gulf and huge cliffs. What a beautiful sight.

Something we didn’t know … the Appalachian Mountains, the oldest North American mountains … continue far into Canada. On the mainland of Canada, Forillan Nat’l Park is the end of the Appalachian Range. Labrador and Newfoundland are remnants of the Appalachians, but this is the end, as far as the mainland. In fact, the International Appalachian Trail finds its end here in Forillon Nat’l Park. Now … aren’t you glad you know that??

We took a cruise out into the waters off Cap Gaspe … unfortunately it was quite foggy today so we were unable to got really good pics, but enjoy the ones we did take on this fun day in this historical park.
