Ginny's Adventures 2008 travel blog

I got back yesterday about noon and left my motorhome at a repair shop while I went to a library to update this website. At the end of the day I found out that they couldn't get everything done but that they found something that concerned them a bit. The body mountings in the front on both driver and passenger sides are broken! I had gone over some rough roads the past couple of years and I did feel the coach sway and heard it groan as it went down dips and over bumps, but I thought that was good that it could flex with the road conditions.

Today, the warranty company was contacted but they have to send a representative to inspect the mountings before they will approve repair under my warranty or only part of it or maybe none of it. Nothing can be started until they inspect it and that could take 24-48 hours. So, I find myself at a repair shop instead of at a campground once again. It isn't a car dealership, but a truck repair shop at the end of a street in a quiet Italian neighborhood. These people sell their vegetables out by the sidewalk with a can for depositing money without them being present. They trust they will get money for their stuff, so I trust that the area is safe.

Oh, the manager of the shop told me that fabricating is what they're known for. Mountings are steel bars that are welded together, fitted to the truck, and welded onto it as needed. The Good Lord does put me in good spots when things need to be taken care of! If I had gone to a Ford dealer to get oil changed, fluids checked, brakes checked and fixed (that needs to be done in the front, also), either they wouldn't have known that mountings were broken or they wouldn't have been able to fix them.

I hope to be in the campground for the weekend, but after the inspection, the work will take about 10 hours! I won't tell you what the bill will be for all the work I am having done, but I am glad I got some work to get paid for on the side! I hope the mountings are under warranty so that I just have to pay the deductible! Labor is almost $100 an hour!
